Many children like to go shopping with their own little bag and these little cotton shoppers really fit the bill.

And these little bags double up nicely as a roomy and useful lunch bag, or just to carry around all those important items they may need to play with 🙂.

Teddy in a Bag has Children’s Cotton Shoppers in two designs – Elephant Print with stars or Teddy Print with small daisies.

Both styles are made in double-sided 100 percent cotton fabric, with interface between the two fabrics to help the bag keep its shape.

And of course, both styles come with a dear little 8cm teddy bear in the front pocket.

You can’t always tell from pictures what the size of a bag is.
These are a good ‘medium’ size when it comes to children’s bags. but measurements are of course most helpful:

Bag measurements:

As with all individually handmade items, measurements for these cotton shopping bags may differ very slightly. But the measurements below give a very accurate idea of size:

Height of Bag: 22.5 cms (9 inches).
Width of bag: 27.5 cms (10.75 inches).
Handles (2 – front and back of bag): 23 cms (9 inches) each.

Pockets (2 – front and back of bag). These are long, slim pockets for pens, pencils and a tiny teddy 🙂:

Length of each pocket: 15 cms (6 inches).
Width of each pocket: 6.5 cms (2.5 inches).

Cotton Shoulder Bags For Children

Each Cotton Bag Has A Tiny Teddy in the Front Pocket

Most of the Teddy Bags I make are crochet bags, but I do a small range of cotton bags too – all for children.

They are all made with 100 percent cotton fabric and contain interface to ensure that they keep their shape. They are all also double-sided, with two cotton fabrics which contrast but complement each other.

These pretty shoulder bags are from the range I call ‘puff’ style (because they remind me of ‘puff skirts’ 🙂). And of course, each bag has a tiny teddy sitting comfortably in the front pocket.

Each little teddy bear measures approximately 8 cms (3.5 cms) and has jointed arms and legs.

I’ll show you one of my favourites first:

This pretty shoulder bag is made in elephant print fabric, with a colourful stars pattern on the reverse side.
There is a square pocket on the outside front, which is big enough to hold the tiny white teddy, plus a couple of small keepsakes too :).

So if you love elephants as well as teddies, this one’s for you 🙂

Little Birds Cotton Shoulder Bag

Next is a very pretty cotton shoulder bag for a child who likes pink and cute birds.
I call it the ‘Little Birds’ bag. It has a sweet pattern with tiny birds in shades of pink and turquoise playing on a light pink background. Reverse side is pink with tiny white polka dots.

And the pocket, also in pink with white polka dots, contains a sweet little brown teddy bear.

And for those children who want a pretty bag for smart occasions, the lilac bag with tiny white polka dots is smart as well as pretty.

The lilac pocket contains a dear little white teddy bear who would appreciate that special occasion too 🙂

Like the other two bags above, the lilac and polka dots cotton shoulder bag is reversible. This one has a plain lilac reverse side.

Bag Measurements:

Measurements are approximate because each individual handmade item can differ slightly.
Bags are also measured laid flat, so for widths please remember to double the amount given for an approximate all round measurement.

Length of bag: 23 cms (9 inches).
Width of bag (laid flat): Widest part: 27 cms (10.5 inches).
Width of top band: 20.5 cms (8 inches).
Length of shoulder strap: 51 cms (20 inches).
Front pocket: 10cms x 10 cms (4 inches by 4 inches).

Teddy inside pocket measures: 8cms (3.5 inches) approximately, from top of head to bottom of feet.

See Teddy in a Bag at St Margarets Hall This Saturday

Teddy in a Bag is pleased to announce that we will be at the St Margarets Table Top Sale this Saturday, 28th September, 2019.

The venue is St Margarets Church Hall, Highland Road, Southsea, PO4 9DD.

This is a great sale, with Free Entry to see lots of different tables and enjoy some refreshments. Just the thing for an enjoyable Saturday afternoon.

And the sale is in aid of helping the local community.

It’s always a pleasure to attend events which help good causes, so I’m making sure I will have some new stock on display, alongside all the favourites.

You can see from the picture above some of the lines I will be showing:

Teeny tiny baskets with tiny teddies and bunnies inside;
Teddies in swinging cradles; moses baskets, teddy cradles, small children’s baskets, backpacks, and shoulder bags, and pretty purses – all with a teddy inside.
And those brand new Decorative Baskets with a happy Teddy snuggled up inside which I featured in my previous post.
Then there are elephant ‘snuggle blankets’, and ‘sunshine’ snuggles.
There are some items for adults and teenagers too – the large crochet shopper on the right of the picture is just one example of this range.
And lots more besides from our original range.

So, I think you’ll agree that Teddy in a Bag will have a great range there 🙂

Summer Fayres and New Stock at Teddy in a Bag

It has been a busy summer so far for Teddy in a Bag.
We have had a great time in the sun at school fayres. Last weekend, we had two great days at Pop Up on the Pier, Southsea, and this coming Saturday, 3rd August, we will be at Castle Fields, Southsea, for the Rowans Hospice Summer Fete (more about that in the next post).

As you can see, it was a little windy but there was so much for all the family to see and do, it was a great event.

In the picture, you may have caught a glimpse of some of the new items for sale at Teddy in a Bag.
I like to make sure that there is always something new and interesting to see and this year there are bunnies as well as teddies on display!

There are tiny crochet baskets, some with a teddy inside and some with a bunny inside and they are extremely cute! And just as important, our Bunny in a Basket and Teddy in a Basket gifts are very reasonably priced, at £2.00 for each basket with Teddy or Bunny inside. so they make lovely gifts and pocket money toys.

Alongside the little baskets, some of the most popular items are our Teddy in a swinging crochet cradle.
They look lovely hanging from a door, from the side of a child’s bed, or holding as a teddy wing.
At £3.50 each, the cradle swings are also a great gift for a child.

We also have adult’s and children’s bags (including eco-friendly cotton shoppers) and children’s snuggle blankets with bright sunshine or elephant centres. And these complement our bags, backpacks, cradles, moses baskets, little baskets and more and in lots of different sizes.

When you visit us at a fayre or market, there is always someone on hand to talk to if you want to ask questions. For instance, there are special bags and teddies which are safe for toddlers, while there are others which are loved by and safe for children of all ages (and adults too!).

Elephant Print Cotton Tote Bag With Teddy In Pocket

Here is another of the cotton tote bags which are very popular at our markets.

This one is in a lovely elephant print (with very cute elephants 🙂 ) and the trim and reversible lining is a beautiful, bright star print.

Of course, each elephant print tote has a tiny teddy in the pocket.
And as all the tiny teddies are jointed, each can sit quite happily outside the bag too 🙂

Cotton tote bags measure approximately 9 inches in length (not counting the shoulder strap) by 7.5 inches wide, and the tiny teddy is approximately 3 inches high when standing.

As the tiny teddy is quite small, although the teddy has a cE mark, for safety I recommend that the teddy is not given to under threes to play with unsupervised.
